How to choose the best hosting plan
Any business needs a website. A website needs a host. A web host stores all the pages of your website and makes them available to computers connected to the Internet. Like most internet services, there are a lot of options. Web hosting is no different. When it comes to choosing a web host, you have two basic options, do it yourself or choose a hosting plan.
- Determine your data transfer needs. You will need at least 2000 MB or 2 gigs per month.
- Find out how many domains you can have. If you want to have multiple domains, make sure that your host will allow them. Multiple domains are a good idea if someone mistypes your URL. For example, someone looking for "yourdomain.com" types "yourdomain.net" and is automatically forwarded to yourdomain.com if yourdomain has registered all similar domain names.
- Make sure your language is supported. If you used ASP or PERL or PHP to make your website, you are going to want to make sure the host supports it. Also, if you use .htaccess to monitor your traffic, your host needs to allow it or else it won't function properly.
- Evaluate the company. You need a company that is professional, reliable and responsible. Look for a 24-hour customer support line
- Narrow down your choices and decide. Browse around for what is out there, get recommendations from friends and then research your choices. Once you are confident about your choice, sign up.
